Hindman Benjamin

Program Associate, 4-H & ANR

Hello!  I am Ben Hindman, the new 4-H Agent for the Bath and Highland Virginia Cooperative Extension offices.  I began working on September 10, 2020.  I grew up spending summers on my family's homeplace on the Bullpaster River in Highland and have had a lifelong goal of living in the area.  I am very excited to be here and working to serve the communities.

My background is in education.  I earned my undergraduate degree in Liberal Studies for Early and Elementary Education from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2012.  The following year I completed my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the College of William and Mary.  Prior to accepting this position, I taught 4th and 5th grades for six years in New Kent, Virginia.  I also spent time working at a therapeutic horseback riding facility.  I am looking forward to applying my skills and experiences in a new way with the Virginia Cooperative Extension.

My wife and I have two daughters, Marley and Rowen.  In my free time I enjoy hiking and reading about history.  I am thrilled to join the community and look forward to working with you.
